Catch it early

Signs You Have a Blocked Drain

Drains tend to signal trouble before they let go entirely. Catch one of these early and you spare yourself a flood across the floor.

  • Sinks and showers emptying slowly. The water hangs around. Usually a partial blockage that a drain cleaning round clears.
  • Toilets and floor wastes gurgling. Air is forcing its way past an obstruction further along. Time for a CCTV drain inspection.
  • Foul or sewage smells indoors. The branch is holding waste that should have flushed away. Ring us before it surcharges inside.
  • Water sitting at the gully. Your overflow relief gully is venting, a plain signal the sewer is choked downstream.
  • A toilet level that jumps around. Pressure swings from a partial obstruction in the branch or main.
  • Wet patches out on the lawn. An underground pipe is leaking, common once old joints perish.

Local knowledge

What Causes the Blockages We Clear in Mascot

Mascot started as market gardens, then filled with small pre-war workers' cottages and semis, and since the 2000s a wall of high-rise apartments has gone up around the station. Two very different pipe stocks now sit side by side, and each blocks in its own way.

The older cottages off Botany Road often still run original earthenware sewer lines. Their joints perish with age, and roots and debris find the gaps and choke the flow.

Then there is the ground itself. The suburb sits on the loose Botany sand beds, and that fine grit works its way through any cracked joint until the pipe silts up from beneath.

Groundwater sits shallow here too, only a few metres down. It infiltrates damaged pipes and keeps drains running full, so blockages build faster than they would on higher ground.

The bigger pattern is stormwater. Trunk drains across the low catchment near Coward Street and Mascot Memorial Park surcharge in heavy rain and high tides, forcing water and debris back up property drains.

That is why a blocked stormwater call in a storm and a blocked sewer call in an old semi are really the same story here: low ground, sandy soil and ageing joints. We camera first so we fix the cause, not the clog.

How we work

How We Clear Your Blocked Drain

Four steps, start to finish, with no nasty surprises along the way.

  1. 01

    You Ring, We Price It

A real person picks up and a plumber heads your way. You hear the full cost first and give the go-ahead before any work starts.

  2. 02

    The Camera Goes First

A CCTV drain camera runs the line to pinpoint where and why it blocks. No trenches, no hunting blind for the fault.

  3. 03

    We Match Tool to Fault

Grease and roots meet a high-pressure jetter, while a stubborn solid mass gets an electric eel. The method suits the blockage.

  4. 04

    You See It Running Clear

The camera drops back in so you watch the pipe flow free. Then we walk through lasting fixes like relining so the same spot does not fail again.

Why Neighbours in Mascot Choose a Local Team

The suburb runs mostly to renters and young professionals filling the towers by the station, with long-established households across the older streets. Both want the same thing: someone fast, fair and easy to reach.

Eleven Years on the Tools

We are a family-owned business, on the tools for over 11 years. You deal with a local crew that treats your home like our own, not a faceless call centre.

A Fixed Price, Not an Estimate

You approve the price before we start, and it holds firm once the work is underway. The price you agree to is the price on the invoice.

Accredited and Insured

We hold Master Plumber accreditation and carry $20 million public liability insurance. It means the work is done to standard and you are covered if anything goes wrong.

Every Drain Backed for Life

If a drain we cleared blocks again from the same fault, we return and sort it at no cost. The labour warranty stays with the job for good.

Drain Clearing Costs, Explained Honestly

No two drain jobs cost the same, but the way we handle the money never shifts. It starts with $0 call-out and a free on-site quote, so you know the figure before you decide.

Here is what actually moves the number on a local drain job:

  • Getting at the pipe. A rod point at ground level is cheaper to reach than a blockage sealed under a concrete slab.
  • Where the blockage sits. A fault near the fixture clears quicker than one out at the boundary shaft.
  • Roots or a collapse. A perished earthenware joint packed with root fibre asks more than a straightforward jet clean.
  • The right long-term fix. Trenchless relining runs dearer at the outset yet spares you a dug-up yard.

In the Community, For the Community

We are a family business that lives and works in Sydney's inner south, and we put that into practice. In the community, for the community is how we actually operate, not a line on a van.

Through the year we support Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney, Beyond Blue, Wayside Chapel and Pink Ribbon Day, plus local community events near hubs like Mascot Central.

When you call a local team, your money stays close to home, and so does the goodwill. There is more about us if you want to know who turns up.

Common questions

FAQs from Mascot Homeowners

Plain answers to what Mascot homeowners ask us most.

Who is responsible for a blocked sewer, me or Sydney Water?

Your private drain, from the house out to the boundary shaft, is your responsibility to keep clear, and that is the stretch we work on. Beyond that shaft the Sydney Water main takes over, so where waste surfaces on the road and hits several homes at once, we will tell you who to call.

Are your plumbers licensed and insured?

Yes, and you can check it. Every job is carried out by a licensed plumber under Lic #275278C, we hold Master Plumber accreditation, and we carry $20 million public liability insurance.

Do you charge a call-out fee in Mascot?

No, there is no call-out fee and every quote is free, whether you are in a tower near the station or an older semi off Gardeners Road. You hear the full figure up front and approve it before we begin.

What should I do while I wait for the plumber?

Shut off any running taps and avoid flushing, so nothing pushes the blockage further or forces waste back up. Keep the household away from pooled water at the gully and leave the covers untouched until we get there.

Will the blockage just come back?

Not once we find the real cause, which is why we camera the line to see whether it is sand ingress, roots in a perished joint or a stormwater surcharge. We clear it, show you it runs free, and back the labour with a lifetime warranty.

Do you use a camera to check the drain?

Every time, before and after. A CCTV drain camera runs the line so you see the blockage and then watch it gone, which matters on the low Botany sand beds where silting and cracked joints hide underground.
